Hold on to Hope
Hold
on to Hope
As
a Cleveland native, it was just a matter of time before I would write
a song about the weather (in case you are not aware, Cleveland has
notoriously exceptional weather, where it is not totally uncommon to
experience 3 or 4 seasons in a week's time). Several inspirations can
come from this charming tendency of changing weather: (a) so many
times I quickly change my mind and life-course (just like the weather
in Cleveland!), but the Lord Jesus is the faithful Rock that we can
stand on whose word and promises is sure (Matthew 24:35); (b) even
when it may be gray, overcast and dreary, we know that the sun is
still shining behind the clouds, so we can be those who endeavor to
live by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7); and (c) when we
consider the words as seeds that were sown into our hearts (see Mark
4:1-20), the rain and sunshine can help those seeds grow to maturity
to produce fruit. Specifically in the book of Hebrews, many times we
are exhorted to hold on to the hope we have in Christ. Examples
include: “but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house — whose
house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our
hope firm until the end” (3:6, New American Standard Bible); and
“so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for
God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement
to take hold of the hope set before us” (6:18). Additionally,
Colossians 1:27 describes Christ in us as our “hope of glory”,
with the end-product to be conformed fully to His image (Romans 8:29,
2 Corinthians 3:18). What a hope we have in Christ who will be
faithful to complete the work that He has started in us (Philippians
1:6)! “Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to
pass” (1 Thessalonians 5:24).
Hold On To Hope
1)
There are days that the sun doesn't seem to shine, Some days all the
dark clouds fill up the skies; Sometimes rain falls and floods run
high, These times I could run and hide, But I...
Chorus So I hold on to hope, Never let go, for this I know That You hold on to me Until You see the end when I'll be With You, there face to face, A product of grace, I'll be like You, Transformed by the sight of You; Lord Jesus, so I'm holding on to You.
2) Sometimes I, like the weather, will quickly change, Fickle with all of the sun or the falling rain; But You are the Rock on which I stand, You'll never change, Your Word remains.
Bridge The sun still shines behind the clouds, To water the earth, the rain falls down; Faithful is He who calls us, Jesus will do it, and He'll bring us through it all; Faithful is He who calls us, Jesus protects us, and He will perfect us all.
3) Through all the storms and the trials, You are changing me, All the sun and the rain help to grow the seed, Christ in me, th' hope of glory, That in the end, mature I'll be!
