Diving

I wrote this song after spending one too many mornings trying to pray and getting stuck on myself and my failures. One day, the Lord reminded me that it's not about how good I am or what I have done, it's about Him, so this song came out. Because of the salvation He provides, I don't need to straighten myself out first, I just need to come to Him; I just need to turn to Him. There is already a River of Water of Life flowing, I just need to jump in and find that the supply of Jesus meets all my need for salvation and changes who I am. After all, the exhortation in Hebrews 12:2 reads that we are to be “fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith...” (New American Standard Bible). Instead of dwelling in myself and my failures, I will turn to Jesus and enjoy the bountiful waters of life that are already freely flowing, as we are all beckoned in another place: “The Spirit and the bride say, 'Come.' And let the one who hears say, 'Come.' And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost” (Revelation 22:17).

Diving
1) I'm not that good, I ain't so great; But I turn from me, To look and wait On You, on You, on You, on You. || 2) My need is deep, More than I know, Yet deeper still the ocean-flow From You, from You, from You, from You. || Pre-chorus Jesus, Savior, there's no other, Who can cover and fill up all my need. || Chorus I am diving deeper, Lord, in You; I am hiding, I hide myself in You, I am finding a deeper, better, higher life, I'm finding all I need in You. || 3) Though I now see Just a little stream, I can come and swim, I am diving in To You, to You, to You, to You. || Bridge I make me so sad because I'm so bad, Oh, it drives me so mad; So I leave all I had, the good and the bad; I can just be glad To hide myself in You, To lose myself in You, To find more life in You, And go deeper, Lord, in You!
